The receptionist said my referral wasn’t accepted because my PCP put “arthritis” and not rheumatoid arthritis. She also said “Rheumatologists don’t diagnose rheumatoid arthritis”, except, yes, that’s exactly what rheumatologists do. Does this practice even want patients??
This place was the worst place ever. They tried to say that my illness was all in my head and that I needed to see Jenny Craig. I am to fat is what the doctor said to me. I was so mad and pissed that I had to sit in my truck for at least 25 minutes before I could leave because I was having bad thoughts. These people are ridiculous and don’t even want to help there patients at all I will never want to see them ever again. I highly recommend you not go see them they are not helpful at all.
I have been a rheumatology patient with UK for 4 years now and it has just gotten worse. There is a different Fellow every year which means you start over every year with someone new. This past summer I saw a locum (traveling doctor) because they did not have anyone else. There is poor bedside manner and if you do not fit an easy to diagnose criteria they blow you off.
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of rheumatologist to choose from in my area. So you get stuck with what is available. Always been told how UK was the best. Top notch hospital. We have NOT had that experience at all. Hospital is FILTHY in the area of the Kentucky Clinic Medicine Specialties. The LAB across the hall is gross. My husband has to do a urine sample. Doctors are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are kind and take care of patients well. I have been seeing doctors for three years and my experience has been very positive.
