Being a snowbird and having no knowledge of Docs in the Sarasota area was a bit intimidating when I needed one. That said, I asked others in the medical field for Urologists' recommendations and Dr. Gapin was the one I ultimately chose. Dr Gapin seems like a nice person and good doctor, but, BE WARNED...he's a charlatan. He treated my prostate cancer with HIFU (Hi Intensity Focused Ultrasound) which cost me out-of-pocket $25,000.00. Unfortunately for me, while he was doing the HIFU, he could see that there was CALCIUM in my prostate and still treated me knowing very well that the HIFU BEAM CANNOT PENETRATE THE CALCIUM, therefore rendering my prostate untreated...for $25,000.00., which of course left me unknowingly without cancer treatment. My experience with Dr. Gapin was superb. I guess it depends on how you treat him as well. I was as courteous as he was, which was very! He answered all of my questions patiently and completely. There is a chance that I might have cancer, or pre-cancerous cells, and he explained everything in laymen's terms to me. He took his time and I never felt rushed, although I was scared to death. Dr. Gapin is an outstanding doctor who took excellent care of my husband. He spent a lot of time answering our many questions with both of us. He also spent time talking with me after my husband ‘s procedure in the hospital while my husband was in the recovery room. I would HIGHLY recommend him to my family and friends!!

Dr Gapin always addressed my questions and concerns. He is always on time and presents a positive attitude at all times. My HIFU proceedure went perfectly and resulted in my PSA coming down to .04 after one year after the procedure. I highly recommend Dr Gapin and HIFU as the proceedure to follow.

Terrible bedside manner,Uncompassionate!Treated very poorly and rushed thru in 10 min total visit time from Dr Gapin!!. Wont answer questions and becomes very argumentative and angry when you ask questions about my condition which causes me great pain in my body. Refused to treat (or even talk much) my male organ disease and ran out of the office without even saying bye and had his nurse escort me out without treatment!!!.(all in 10 min!) He should be retrained! Dont go
