Being born & raised in San Diego, as well as being of traditional Mexican heritage, I consider myself a true critic of Mexican cuisine. The type of tortillas and spices used are critical! And, in the hand full of years I've lived in NYC, Toloache has met my Mexican taste bud's expectations in many ways. Although they are a bit pricey, I can't help frequenting both SoHo and Midtown West's locations. My favorite tacos are Suadero and De Lechon, as well as their Hamachi ceviche!
So I took the wife and kids here while on a trip to NYC based on a website that listed the top restaurants in Times Square and they were right. We had nothing but tacos and each type were great. The overall fans were the fish tacos and my personal favorite, the brisket ones. I even dared to try the grasshopper tacos which surprised me with their flavour (not for the faint of heart). I will definitely be back on my next trip to NYC.
