A must go if you want a great food. A hole in the wall worth going!
SO two of us went to Toki Underground Ramen restaurant Thursday night in DC. The place is extremely popular and supposed to be the best in the city. The Ramen was really good the service quick. The place is very small maybe seats 20-25 people with a very long wait. My only negative comment is the music; it was loud and vulgar, lot of profanity in the songs. So we got here at 5:30pm, was told there was a 2 hour wait. That's okay, we get it and were willing to wait. We were told there were 55 people ahead of us. A little over an hour later, we went back to check on how many people ahead of us, the hostess told us to text them cause he was "helping others in line." Waited 40 mins in the cold to eat here and I'm from overseas where we don't tip. When it came to paying, I paid in change and he asked me if I wanted to change, I said yes. When it came to tipping him with my change, he had short changed me, terrible etiquette, but I was forced to leave a tip otherwise I'm a shitty customer. Fascinates me what American customers have to put up with. You're entitled to good service at a restaurant, without needing the pressure to tip. Ridiculously delicious food with a sweet environment. There is a reason there is a two hour wait list. The cool thing is you put your name and go anywhere on H street and grab a drink and wait to be called. Been there three times and it's always impressed me with the quality of the food and the epic service.
The Kimchi Ramen is a must! I absolutely love everything about that tiny/cozy place ☺️
