First time we'd ever been there. Not sure how we heard about it but really glad we had. Simple, excellent food in an old building. Service was really good and friendly. We've already made plans to go back next time we're in San Antonio (we're from Austin).

My family has been going to Tip Top since 1941. Still the best Chicken Fried Steak and Onion Rings.
Good old fashioned food, just like Mom used to make. Desserts are to die for. And the onion rings! Oh my!

I ate one of the best meals ever and it just happened to be one of the specials of the day. It was amazing! We both had a HUGE chicken fried chicken breast, crazy good bacon and pimento Mac & Cheese, other worldly green beens, a garden salad, roll and tea. EVERYTHING was fresh and made from scratch. Now for the best part...it was all for $8.95! We didn't even have room for pie. This was my first time. For my wife, who was born in S.A. it's been 30 years.
