I rented a car from Thrifty (a Hertz brand) at Chicago O'Hare, Rental Record #574431395 — a one-day, one-way rental, May 4–5, 2026, O'Hare to Newark. I booked online, where the one-way pricing was already built into the rate. My signed rental agreement shows a Total Estimated Charge of $371.17 for the whole rental — everything included — which I paid at pickup via Apple Pay (the agreement says "Paid By: Wallet/Digital"). This company took advantage of a 78 year old Senior citizen ! I reserved what they call a "Manager's special" well in advance for pick up at Westchester airport in NY. One of the questions was "do you want an EV,I checked the NO box. Well guess what? They insisted I take a TESLA or nothing at all upon arriving at the airport. We rented a car from Thrifty in Orlando. We were quoted $202 for 4 days. We told the rental agent there was an additional driver. The initial quote receipt showed the 4 days rental and taxes. When the car was returned, the cost was $328 with no explanation as to the reason for the increase. Due to having time constraints as we were at the airport and had to make our flight, we couldn't question the charges at that time. We reserved a mini van with a rental agreement that was supposed to cost $286.78. We paid $230.20 upfront through Wisecars. When we arrived at Thrifty's JFK counter, we were told that there were no vehicles available. We had a wedding to attend and told them this is BS and we needed a vehicle. Miraculously if we were willing to upgrade there was a vehicle available. As we had to make it to the wedding activities we had no choice. Everything went well with my rental. The only minor problem was finding a vehicle that fit the class of car I rented that had keys in the vehicle. Granted it was about 2:30 am and there were no lot attendents around. We did have to check 3/4 vehicles (mini-van)before we found one that was unlocked and had keys in the ignition. Other wise car ran well, was clean. Counter and lot attendents were fine.

I had booked on carrentals.com. Due to a family emergency I was not able to pick up the car until 24 hours after the original scheduled time. Carrentals.com was no help in the rebooking however, the Thrifty employee at the counter was very helpful and was able to provide the original rate for which I reserved the car. I will definitely be back to Thrifty.

Renting until april 19. Always great service from thrifty.
