They have a good selection of native plants and people knowledgeable about them. They also have a little garden with the plant signs so you can at least see/choose some of the selections growing in a natural habitat.
I have visited the nursery twice to purchase native plants for my garden. The selection of plants is extensive and the plants are healthy. There is no need to go to box stores and buy (possibly pesticide-treated) non-natives for your "drought tolerant" garden. Theadore Payne is the best place to start, get educated and get plants that are suited to live in our area because native plants have evolved over millenia to survive within and sustain the southern CA ecosystem.
Lots of great plants native to California specifically to Southern California both for sale and shown in a practical environment. Everyone working the nursery here seems to know what they’re talking about and has great advice for the native gardener
I was there for the propagation class with Jordan. It was excellent. He has excellent. Our group was an eclectic mix of people all sharing there knowledge of natives. The best part was walking the grounds, being able to clip our own clippings, and walking away with our own flat. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
They're all native, which is important for butterflies, pollinators, etc. They are also helpful and knowledgeable.
Amazing selection - including locally sourced natives! Plus, the staff is incredibly helpful & patient with newbies.
