This local legend is billed as the world's biggest drive-in and has been a staple on the Atlanta dining scene since 1928. Countless burgers, fries, shakes and more than two miles of hot dogs are served here every day, along with more Coca-Cola than anywhere else in the world. Dine in your car, seat yourself in one of the many cafeteria-style rooms, or simply order your greasy lunch at the 150-foot (46-meter) long stainless-steel counter and go. The white-tiled diner theme is a welcome throwback to days when drive-ins ruled t... read more

The Varsity has been around for a long time and is an iconic restaurant in Atlanta. The orange drink and orange frosty are both great classics. I like the hot dogs and fries myself to eat. They also have an ice cream bar with tasty ice cream. The service is exceptionally fast; they have perfected the art of moving people quickly through the line so you never wait more than 2 minutes even when crowded. The various rooms have televisions playing: some news, some sports, etc which is a nice touch.
Being new to Atlanta I've been told of how great the Varsity was , but when I tried them it wasn't what I thought it would be. Now don't get me wrong the hot dogs weren't bad , but from the talk of the town.... I thought they would be better. I had a slaw dog and a chili dog. The chili dog was a little over priced if you asked me . The team moved the line quickly, but I wouldn't say that they gave me Chick-fil-a type customer service ( best customer service at a fast food restaurant). Love stopping by The Varsity on our way through Atlanta. The FO is definitely a MUST try if you stop.
Stopped in for lunch while in Atlanta based on some friends recommendation. First, I knew this was downtown but wow. The food was okay but not spectacular. I've had better burgers.
I've lived in Atlanta for 2 years and this past weekend was the first time I went to the Varisty. It's definitely a staple here and a must try. I had a cheeseburger, onions rings and fries which were all delicious. If you got make sure you've saved up some extra calories cause you can easily blow a days worth of calories on a meal here.
I can't drive through Atlanta or Athens without stopping for a bite to eat at the varsity! My favorite menu items… Grilled pimento cheese, onion rings and a frosted orange! Not a place to go if you're on a diet!
Worse good I have ever eaten. Had been looking forward to the experience for ten years but Would not ever go back. The dogs were not hot in fact all of our food was cold. Save you money. Burgers yuk. Thanks but no thank. Do not get a pie either.
I had forgotten how great a chili dog and FO could be. OMG fantabulous. add some onion and it is heaven. granted, i am a big boy, but i love me some rangs and chili dogs
I love the varsity it's real American food much only problem is because of so much Grease and slaw the buns are a little soggy but all in all great tasting food an it's fun to see that they are usually the same people who have been there 30 40 50 years
