We are a twisted American Diner in the heart of Salem, MA - just yards away from the commuter rail station. We are a foodie haven, not a greasy spoon. We serve Bacon, Beer & Espresso - along with the best brisket hash you'll ever try. There is a Soda Jerk and home-made buttermilk biscuits with red eye gravy. Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch are served all day. So grab a stool, sip a cuppa and chat with your neighbor, cuz we ain't got no TV.

Always consistently good with friendly and attentive staff
My favorite breakfast spot in Salem. They have menu choices from bacon and eggs to duck confit on a waffle. Plus, the endless variety of the ways they cook eggs never disappoint and I love seeing which ugly mug they will pour my coffee into.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Easy and fun place to meet up with friends and co-workers before work or during lunch, great family/hair of the dog spot on the weekends.
Fun food, fun crowd, fun staff. The mugs are ugly but the people are beautiful.
Its quality is obvious in the number of repeat customers who are willing to wait during peak periods (go early or off-meals to get a quick seat). The staff are friendly, welcoming, and awesome with kids. The menu isn't huge but is really well chosen, and ranges from normal basic breakfast foods to duck confit and scotch eggs. There are a number of solid vegetarian choices, AND they've got beer! WIN!
I love the Ugly Mug not only because everyone who works there is a very cool and great person but also because they serve great food that cam accommodate most diets. And the food is classic while being creative and non pretentious. Yeah there is often a wait on weekends but that's a testament to how great the food is. You can order coffee in line and there is always coloring for my daughter. Always worth it!!
Love. Great stop for a bite and checking out local artists Jason Voorhees masks and canvases. Food portions a huge and well worth the money. Horror Fan gives two thumbs up!
