Meat, specifically the brisket tasted more like a pot roast and was cut as such. Pictures on wall were nothing like it suggested it would be. Pork was average, not bad. Needed sauce to spice it up where good bbq it's great on its own. Tampa generally doesn't have good bbq so this fits the bill. Mac and cheese was dry and bbq beans were too and cold. Restaurant was setup nicely and roomy.
One of the best in town!
We visited on a Saturday around noon. We both ordered a 2 meat platters with sides. The brisket and the pulled pork were smoked well. We will return to purchase the meat only. Each platter is served with 2 sides. We tried the creamed corn which was under cooked, the collard greens which were greasy and tasted of vinegar, and the mac n cheese which they should remove from the menu. First time ever and I wasn't that impressed after watching this place on TV is the only reason I drove there to eat. The service was poor especially when there was only 6 customers in the store , I ordered wings by the time we ate our lunch plate and finished I had to ask the girl what happen to my wings , She had forgotten so they sat and we had cold wings. I read the other reviews and have to say, they must have been written by family members and friends. The portion in respect to price is way off. I ordered a side of fries for $2.99. When I got the order there were maybe 18 fries on the plate. We got there at lunch time and I asked if there was a lunch special. I was told no there isn't.
