Did spend a week in New York together with my wife. We had a really hectic schedule to visit all the "have to" places in NY. Our neighbors, which had visited NY a couple of times before told us about things to see and places to visit. One place was however mandatory (it was more or less a direct order from them); The Smith & Wollensky. I will certainly hand out the same kind of order when someone ask me about the city of New York: you cannot, I repeat cannot miss this restaurant!
