Great greasy spoon. Although I do wonder about the cleanliness at times, the quality of the food is reasonable for what it is. The cost is cheap, and the breakfast is great. You don't have to wait, and since they disallowed smoking this place is even better.

Shanty This is a great cafe with comfort food that really hits the spot. The waitresses are sweet and they make you feel like family. I like the breakfast sandwiches here and they also have lunch options too.

G R E A T Breakfast! – After the great write up in the Pacific NW magazine Sunday, I wanted to try this place. Waited just a couple of minutes for a table and then was seated. Coffee was hot and rich. Ummmm. I ordered the Super California benedict and was not disappointed. Perfectly poached egfs, fresh English muffins, homemade hollandaise. What's not to like. Great service, friendly crowd and great food make this place a keeper!

One word -- YUM! – I, too, always passed by this place and finally went in on a friend's recommendation. This is the breakfast place I've always hoped for! It was so hard to choose what to get. My boyfriend and I split the German benedict and corned beef hash. Everything was fresh, including their hollandaise sauce, and the hashbrowns were perfectly done. Next time I want to get the biscuits and gravy which I hear are to die for. Great, casual, diverse crowd, good for families, too. Definitely one of my top breakfast places,... read more

shanty's a find! – i've passed by and noticed the shanty a few times per week over the past three and a half years that i've lived in seattle. i finally stopped in last saturday to check it out. it's a cozy diner that feels family-operated. the service is fast and pleasant. the food is very good -- fresh and made to order, even with picky requests like "fruit instead of toast please?" overall, i highly recommend it. in fact, i went back with my fiancé on sunday so that i could enjoy it all over again. ^..^

Can pancakes get better? – I have been eating here because you try to find a good fast and friendly breakfast here in Seattle. I don't eat here because it is hip, I eat here because I feel like I am at home, I can get confortable, and other places (like Hurricane, Cafe Minnie, ect, ect,) have bad food and worse waiters. Come here to feel at home, not to be given crap food and bad Service from unskilled waitstaff.

Scrumches – The Shanty is one of the hole in the wall places that we all look for. Its been around for along time and the reason is they have great food. The eggs are always done just right and they have the best blue berry pancakes. Always crowed so get their ealry.
