Great place to listen to amazing blue music and drink a few beers.
Great music. Bartender was a little grumpy but everything else was great. It's definitely a dive bar so don't expect frills.
The real characters of this place are behind the bar serving the drinks. And the measures served are certainly character building. Neglect to tip at your peril! Great, authentic and atmospheric live blues / rock venue. Highly recommended for a fun, and for San Francisco, relatively inexpensive night out
I come here every time I'm in SF, and it always makes my heart sing. Can't give no higher rating than that.
The Saloon is a small, very informal, very friendly old dive and a great place to rock out and dance to live blues. The oldest bar in San Francisco, it is full of character and characters. Cover charges (if any) are cheap, and the drinks are cheap. The bathrooms are primitive and not for the faint-of-heart (maybe there was originally an outhouse?) My wife and I always have a great time there - very fun.
I knew when walked in the door I was going to love this place. The crowd was swaying, the music pouring out the door was a sultry blues that was so good it pulled me into the room. The space was amazing you could feel the history of the music that has been playing here who knows how long. I stayed until closing Oh, and they pour a good drink too.
