For more than 25 years, the Red Lion has been plying its patrons with strong drinks and specials in trendy SoHo. The bar is a no-frills spot that has outdoor seating and a pretty decent menu of American fare. The bar has music seven days a week from 7pm to 4am and is a great place to watch a game from the leagues around the British Isles.

Good hangout on Bleecker As Bleecker Street changes, it's nice to have somewhere like the Red Lion. I will say that we prefer to go during the daytime, as during live music nights it can get crowded and uncomfortable--we prefer the daytime English pub feel.
Live Music The Red Lion is a fun place for live music. It is small so you are very close to the musicians. With only a $5 cover charge you definitely get your money's worth. Some bands are just OK but others are amazing. You can spend hours here drinking with friends and listening to a wide variety of music.
great place, good food!
Good place to eat.
great music and cool place
Good atmosphere – I went there a couple of times on weekends, the music is fantastic, very crowded (even though that may have to do with the rugby games, I don't know), very good atmosphere. The on;y thing I didn't really like was the fact that bartenders weren't very friendly, but I'm sure dealing with drunk rugby fans may be tough sometimes. Anyway, I will try to go there once without rugby to see what it's like.
I love this place! – I just do.
Red Lion rocks – Sorry to hear about your experience but I went there on Friday night with a big group of friends. The place was packed with rugby supporters. Audio was on for both the Ireland and England games. The kitchen was open late, got wings at 4.00am! The service was great. The atmosphere was incredible even though we didnt get the results we wanted. They even put a band on inbetween the games. I would definitely go back to watch the rest of games even though our team is out, it will always be my spot for rugby.
Watch At Nevada Smith's (3rd Ave & 12th St) instead!!!!! – Hi - you ruined a 10 year reunion of friends from around the world when you lied and deceived me and my friends into thinking we could come and watch the RWC quarterfinals. No kitchen, no audio and both were promised several times - I called all week long just to make sure, and each time I called I was ASSURED that we would have the audio for the match and that the kitchen would be open. SERVICE - AWFUL. MUSIC - AWFUL. ATMOSPHERE - AWFUL. EVERYTHING IS AWFUL. I would... read more
Business response:
We have tried to work with the difficult timing of the World Cup Games in keeping with the live music and showing the games however it is difficult to please everyone. Our intention is never to bring anyone to The Red Lion on false promises it was an honest misunderstanding between staff and management. I would like the opportunity along with Joe the bartender to apologize to you in person, please contact me anytime @ 2122609797. Thank you Glenda
