User review by fiat – Perhaps this place made an effort to offer food that was meant for human consumption when it opened but those days are long past. What tries to pass for schnitzel would be more inconspicuous nailed to the bottom of a boot. The "german" potato salad was a hard pile of undercooked potatoes tossed with (are you ready for this?) MUSTARD! Go for the beer and stay far, far away from the food. There are other german pubs in the city that at least try to offer german food.
Great People!! – Last Monday night we had my brother's 30th birthday party here. It was a very large party and they went out of their way to accomodate us. They even gave us some birthday candles when we forgot to bring our own!.....The staff there is a class act and I will forever be a loyal patron of theirs!
Great brats in Ballard – When you are craving brats or german sausage, this is the place to go. The brats are always dellicious, as are the sausage and cheese plate, the fries (huge plate- split them with a friend) and the fried pickle. The beer selection is also quite varied and large. The only drawback is that the bar is very stale-smoky and could use some ventilation.
Good pub – I liked that place. We went there for my friend's birthday and really enjoied it. They have a great choice of German beer as well as good and tasty Shctnitzels. aiter were extremelly nice girl and she suggested several good beer choices. Atmosphere was quiet and nice (though we were there @ 5 p.m.) and it wasn't very crowdy. I would recommend you to check out their beers. Overall they were not pricy at all and we spend about $25-30 per person.
Bavaria in Scandanavia – All the pleasant German ambiance associated with King Ludwig's in Leavenworth is here. Love the ethnic food & Spaten Dopplebock. A bit of Bavaria in the middle of Scandanavia.
gets better all the time – I've been going here for a while now, noticed they recently have started kitchen specials during the week - yummy! And they still have the best late night food around.
PP – Therer are only two bonuses about this place. 1 Jesse works here, and 2 the location. Someone needs to teach the bartenders how to make a proper bartenders margarita.
The name fits – This place is one of the reasons I love living in Ballard. I don't eat meat, so I was wary of a place that specializes in german food, but they won me over with the breaded tomato sandwiches, baby greens, goat cheese, and fried pickles. And they mix a fine cocktail if you're not in the mood for a malt beverage. Truly a great neighborhood pub; relaxed, comfy, good drinks and good food.
Modern Day German – Not sure what the last reviewer was doing other than advertising for another establishment...The Pub has 3 times as many German beers as that other place, and serves excellent, authentic German food (maultaschen, rouladen, several schnitzles..mmm). Top it off with good pub food late at night and a full bar, this place rocks!
The Peoples Pub has a 4.2 star rating with 78 reviews.
