The Peoples Pub (Die Volkskneipe) was founded by Drew Kondik and Jon Norris. Drew is a graduate of the University of Washington where he rowed crew, studied Geography & Medicine and tended a local bar. He is still very proud to have been named best dressed bartender for two years in a row. Jon is a graduate of Virginia Tech and the University of Washington. He uses his Masters in Library Sciences at a little Redmond software company named Microsoft.

Best Bar in town – Okay, in the name of full disclosure I have to admit that I'm pretty biased. I have been coming to the People's happy hour once a week for almost 5 years now, and know the awesome staff well enough to just tip my head or flare a nostril from across the room and I'll receive what I want from the beer and food menus. The Energy here is so negative and depressing! – After i left this place all i heard was bad things. Here's my personal story, the bartenders rude and full of shit! Can I say presumptuous? I've never been in a place where the bartenders assumed they could invite themselves into the conversation! Every time the bartender opened her mouth my experience got worse and worse! Never going again- – I'm never going to this bar again. My first time "dining" there was my last. The owner of this establishment should screen the servers much more carefully. Our server grudgingly brought us drinks, food, and water. At the end of our night, we asked to split the check (a normal request). We handed the server four credit cards and asked it to be split four equal parts... not an uncommon request. Love Peoples – Generous happy hour with great cheap food. Nice BLT and the veggie burger is the best in town. I eat it and I'm a carnivore. Great kraut. Great german and local beer. Try the Kolsch and Spaten. And Sabrina rocks!
I love the People's Pub. It has great fish and chips and bratwurst. It is one of the few places you can get german style potato salad with your brat. The service is always frienldy and fast. The best part about it is that you can get food even into the wee hours.
drink the beer, skip the food – the review from 5/30/07 says it all: it MAY have been good, but not now. We went in on a Tues, early evening, looking forward to some great German food. Still looking. My pork cutlet was so dry, I had to choke it down with the beer; I finally gave up and left half of it. The red cabbage side was just that : red cabbage, no seasonings that I could taste. Can't beat $2.50 jager/schnapps on Sat nights. – My friends and I discovered this hole in the wall about 6 months ago and have been regulars on the weekends ever since. $2.50 jager/schnapps on a Saturday night? Yes please. The service can be a bit flaky but they make up for it in friendly attitude and freebies. There is also a collection of board games to play, which only become more fun as the night goes on. This is a great place for a cheap drink and a laid-back atmosphere on the weekends
Great food and location – Glad to see this place recently got named one of the top ethnic restaurants in the city by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. I was there last night after a show down the street and noticed they added some new items to the menu as well that I can't wait to try!
German fare finds a home on Ballard's most happening street. – In Short Located on hip Ballard Avenue, this low-key neighborhood pub has a dining room in front and a bustling bar in back. The menu is populated with German comfort food, including giant Wiener schnitzel served with pommes frites and sauteed vegetables, as well as a slew of sausages.
