The 36” strand of pearls that my husband gave me about 20 years ago broke! I found out that real pearls are strung on a cord and knotted between each pearl (as mine were). Even though the cord was only broken in one place, i learned that the entire strand needed to be replaced and each pearl restrung and knotted on a brand new cord to maintain the integrity of the cord.
