Had my wedding here last year, wedding coordinator never responded to my emails until my husband emailed her asking to. I had paid extra for separate vegan meals to be prepared for guests, and the meals that were served were vegan but absolutely not what we had asked for. On top of that, the next morning, we left our cake for the staff to snack on and as we were checking out, the front desk associate make a snarky comment about getting married at a young age. RecommendedNice historic hotel near KU. The staff are amazing. Great customer services. Bird Dog bar & restaurant had excellent food. Only problem was we didn’t know to ask for in room coffee maker.

I was taking my wife there for our anniversary and Memorial Day weekend. Ran into a problem and we needed to cancel. Cancellation policy is 48 hours and if you don’t cancel before then, they charge full price for 1 night. Pretty sure they’ll sell this room as well and collect 2x for the same room. Policy like this is ridiculous and leaves no room for consideration of people’s circumstances. Very disappointed! Won’t book here again no matter the occasion.

Rooms and meals are first class at a reasonable cost.
Beautiful hotel. Sits on top of a hill, great architecture, charming coffee guy at the coffee stand every morning, and good happy hour. The catering was delicious and varied during a week long conference. 👍🏽👍🏽
Definitely one of the best parts of coming home to KU is the opportunity to stay at The Oread!! Love the place & bar!!
