I received a text on the morning of the day that we would be checking in asking if I had any special requests. I decided to inform the hotel that it was our anniversary and that we chose the Oliver to celebrate because it is where we stayed on our wedding night and absolutely loved it. I expected to maybe see a little note or a drink voucher (which we did receive, two in fact), but we opened the door to our room only to realize that they had upgraded us to a much more expensive suite at no charge. Just enjoyed a long concert weekend stay at the Oliver. Staff (Chris at the front desk in particular!) was wonderful! Friendly and genuinely cared about our experience. Hotel is in a great location convenient to Market Square, Old City, Gay Street etc. with the University only a 20-ish minute walk. Peter Kern Library and Oliver Royale both executed fantastically. Older building and walls were a bit thin. Renovation is well done but our room showed a tiny but of wear and tear - loose carpet etc. That said, these small negativ... read more
