About this business

Old-fashioned charm is what you will find at this spot, that is unfussy, unpretentious, and as homey as your living room. Lots of old favorites are served up here, including, of course, about ten variations of clams. The Sweet Raw Clams get high praise and the Fried Clams are a crispier alternative. Fried seafood choices include oysters and calamari. Specialties of the house are seafood Provencal, Seafood Mescalanza and other shellfish mixes.

Delicious fare and attentive friendly waitress and bus talent kept us happy fed and cleaned up as we finished each wonderful dish. Dame family of restaurants as the crab house iand The Franciscan on the wharf and the dead fish in Crockett, stinking rose and couple of others- all first class eateries and buildings. Worth your visit and then, of course, a worthy return. We all love the choices.

Had lunch at the Old Clam House yesterday and it was good good good. The sizzling platter of mussels was followed by the big bowl of clam chowder and garlic bread. Very tasty, great ingredients, well prepared. Great setting. Definitely will return.

Our first time at this old San Francisco landmark and it couldn’t have been better. The clam chowder is delicious, and the garlic bread a must have.

Service was exceptional. There were 8 of us and all were delighted with the quality and flavor of the food. I recommend the seafood fettuccini. It is served in a cioppino sauce. Delicious from start to finish. We were not impressed with the clam chowder but everything else is worth coming back for.

Anna was a great server, attentive, polite, and sincere. The food was excellent! We enjoyed celebrating 3 birthdays at The Old Clam House! Oysters, calamares, seafood stew, clam chowder, and beet salad were all superb! Ambiance was rustic and non-pretentious. I would certainly come back to this restaurant!!!

All I can say is...I drank clam juice. It and eberything else was amazing. You have to check this place out. From pan fried garlic bread to garlic butter crab, crab louie as long as your arm and calimari and tarter sauce. Beyond excellent service. Really want to go back now.
