Pretty, nice and affordable apartments! I've lived at these apartments for well over a year and simply don't understand the bad reviews! Before this, we were at the Civic Center apartments, and the Magnolias are 10 times better!!! For one, there are plenty of trees and grassy areas (our apartment backs up to a grassy area with trees and plenty of birds), whereas most "newer" apartments in Desoto have nothing but parking lots. I would NOT choose these apartments! These apartments are way to expensive for how old and junky they are. Every week another stain pops up in the floor (not from us), during the summer we had HORRIBLE bug/spider problems and when we asked them to come spray and they said we would just have to wait until the next time one was scheduled but the bugs were so bad that it didn't seem like they had ever sprayed the apartment. Deposit & Non refundable fees, higher rent than shown on websites Just an FYI - went to rent a 1 bedroom. First of all the rent is $655 mth for 1 bedroom, higher than the sites show. Then there's a $55 adminstration fee (no refundable) , another $100 admistration fee (non refundable) & a $100 deposit. After signing all the papers and writing 3 different checks I was told they will make me pay 1st & last months rent on move-in day because I'm a "first time renter". Look elsewhere When my boyfriend and I first starting looking for our first apartment together, we loved these apartments. We looked at some reviews that weren't very impressive, but we signed a 13 month lease anyway. I wish we would have listened a little bit more to the problems others have had. The first week, the dishwasher had to be replaced, the oven didn't heat well, and part of the carpet had to be ripped up. I would look elsewhere I stayed there for one year, and because it was the first apartments I lived in, I did not realize how terrible they were! They are extremely small. The carpet was disgusting!! Anytime you needed a repair on an appliance, it would take MONTHS to get it fixed. The management was unprofessional and rude many times. I would NEVER live there again, and I certainly would not suggest anyone to live there!
A little of BOTH We lived here for over a year. We first signed a 6 month lease with the apartments. When it was time to renew, they were supposed to put us on ANOTHER six month lease. I like this complex I have lived here for close to a year now and have really enjoyed being in this area. The staff here has always been very good at dealing with what few issues I have had and they have done so in a fast and friendly way. The grounds are very well kept at all times. Everything I need is only a short drive including, Wal Mart, nice eating establishments, a brand new Walgreen's, and several new shopping centers.
