Nestled in Historic Hallowell, old sidewalks, imitation gas lamp posts and a turn of the century brick skyline provide an ample setting for (the not so-secret, any more!) English-style brew pub, The Liberal Cup. As the name suggests, we believe in quantity as well as quality. Whether it's one of our standard 20oz pints or a heaping plate of Fish & Chips, we guarantee you won't leave our pub thirsty or hungry. If for some silly reason your friends don't drink beer, we also have a full wine and liquor selection. And because ev... read more

The mussels are amazing. The service is great and everyone is extremely accommodating and friendly. A definite place to try if you haven't already.
The food and service is always excellent. My favorite is the garlic parmesan chicken tenders. I would like chilled/frosted glasses as the beer/ale is usually not that cold. Thank you!!
Great place Service is very good. People Are Awesome.
Probably the best Prime Rib I’ve ever had, I’m from Bath and know for a fact they use Choice in Bath
The beer is fresh with a great variety to choose from and the food is always good. It’s a pub atmosphere with a friendly staff. With the downtown reconstruction going on parking is not a problem at so don’t let that scare you away.
Great beer. Loved the DIPA but even the Poorter was great! I had a turkey club and fries which was actually a little too much to sit and eat it all so i took the rest home...definitely will be back to try other beers this summer.
Tonight was shrimp cargot, shepherd's pie, Alewife, the red ale, and cream stout shared by my husband and I. The food was delicious and filling, the ales were delicious, the staff very friendly and responsive. We don't make it to Hallowell as often as we would like, but when we do, we come here!
I love the Cup! BEST French onion soup around and the homemade Parmesan peppercorn dressing is to die for. Great service and food as always ❤️
