The Hungry Cat has been meowing its way to the hearts of the city's phat cats! This modern, urban bar and seafood eatery caters to the Hollywood people, who love fish and alcohol. With an outdoor patio, horseshoe shaped bar, seating capacity of about 75 and a cool vibe, this place is ideal to chill out with your buddies. The fare on the menu has influences from the east coast and creations by chef and owner David Lentz, including the likes of tuna sashimi melon salad and the famous 'pug burger.' Don't forget to try the delic... read more

Food is great but service is not – Loved this place when it opened, but it seems as though service has soured considerably. Went there on a recent Saturday night, and it was a full house. We had reservations, but had to wait 45 minutes anyway. The host was kind enough to take our drink orders, but the actual drinks didn't arrive until after we had been seated. The waiter took his time getting our orders and (non)answered every question about the food by saying, "You should totally get it. It's awesome" -- not the most helpfu... read more
Yum! – The cocktails are fresh and delicious, peel & eat shrimp is outstanding. My only complaint is that the "lobster roll" is really a lobster salad roll, mixed with mayo....which should be disclosed on the menu since the sandwich is over $20. It was delicious, but not what I was expecting.
Would not budge – Went to the Hungry Cat last night with two friends. After being told that they were out of the "Chilli" Shrimp as well as the salmon (we weren't too happy as it is already a small menu)....I decided to order a soup and salad. I requested that they put the salad dressing on the side, to which I was told that they chefs won't make accomodations like that, they only prepare them "as they feel they should be made". My friend ordered a burger...asked for the aioli dressing (which he hates) on the side, and was g... read more
This restaurant made me sick! – With high expectations my wife and I ate at the Hungry Cat last night. The service staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful. We ordered the Ahi Sashimi, Heads on Chili Prawns and the Barramundi (seabass). We didn't find the food memorable until we returned home. By the time I got home my stomach was churning and within 4 hours I was throwing up and worse. Today we called to give them a heads up so that they don't make anyone else sick. We spoke Mathew, the manager. He asked what I ate and th... read more
yummy, but slow kitties – Reading some of these reviews have disheartened me to try its downhill state. I was at Arclight however late night and thought to drop in and was highly surprised at the dishes. I think the fact that it was late at night and the kitchen wasn't as pressured possibly contributed to the quality, but I have to dine in at a peak hour to confirm. A bit slow service, but not slow enough to be annoying. I shared the lump crab salad with my brother and it was pleasant, but not overly spectacular. I'm not a f... read more
Imagine Staying Away – 'Hungry Cat' should be renamed, 'Litter Box'. Not a good experience. Service is poor to non-existent. Bread is served burnt. And when we left (even though we walked past several employees) there was no thank you, no good-bye or any form of acknowledgement. Don't go for the ambiance either. Furniture looks like it's from IKEA and the ceiling is part of an unfinished next door apartment lobby. There are too many other great places where the food is better, service is better and you're appreciated.
Great Neighborhood Place – I've been to Hungry Cat several times and the food and service is consistently good. I love the casual vibe and modern look of the place. In my most recent visit, I had the lobster roll (delicious, sweet lobster on a toasty brioche breach - yum!) accompanied by a lovely rose with strawberry undertones - a recommendation by the waitress who was super sweet and helpful. (Other food recommendations - the Pug Burger; the breakfast potatoes; crabcakes). The only critique is that their sushi/sashimi dish... read more
Fresh Fare – We were seated promptly and they were even able to seat us out on the patio which was perfect on a warm night. Our waiter, Henry, was attentive, personable and gave very thorough information about all menu items including the wine list. The seafood was very fresh with interesting sauces and sides. Overall, we had a very positive experience.
Hungry Cat? How about Hungry Customers??!! – I ate at Hungry Cat with 6 friends this past Friday night for my birthday, and was 100% horrified, annoyed, and astonished about how bad it was. We picked it based on recommendations from friends, including some who were there that night. Even they were amazed how downhill its apparently gone and how rapidly the descent was. While the drinks are tasty, the food sucketh. One friend ordered Crab LEGS, and got a Crab LEG for $20 (P.S. It was served without a seafood cracker, and wasn... read more
