South Broadway's favorite joint since 1995, The Hornet is one of SOBO's longest lasting restaurants and bars. We proudly offer our award winning brunch from 10 am - 3 pm Friday, Saturday & Sunday. An old favorite makes a nondescript attempt at urban hip-ness. – In Short Though this place used to feature open jam sessions for jazz musicians, today the bar eschews live music for a jukebox, and the crowd is decidedly more trendy and clothing conscious. The menu serves up standard American fare. The blackened catfish is easily the highlight, served with a Cajun spice that accents the fish surprisingly well, without overpowering it. The fish and chips are a little greasy; the burgers are best when ordered medium-rare.
Nice! – With gas prices going up good entertainment can be found on two major bus lines. Comfortable, great staff and prices around the lower line. Not so gig, so if going to happy hours get there early, then stay late, because the drink prices only go up marginal. Hang your hat folks!
Suprisingly good For Kids – I know it looks like a bar, but if you get there early in the evening (before 6) this place is a great place for kids. The servers are incredibly tolerant, and it gives mom and dad the sense that they are actually going out to a grown up place. Food is very good too and prices give good value.
