I've had uncles that were on the ground at Normandy and in the Gulf. They survived, but paid their prices in different ways. If I were running any kind of a business, giving something back would not even be a question. A handshake and a thank you would not be optional. The idea that some young, snotty, arrogant manager can take it upon himself to demean a veteran in the name of "corporate policy" is disgusting.
The fact that not only are your employees told not to give veteran discounts, but when management is called into the picture, the discount is still refused, sickens me. While you work inside and have no threat to your personal safety and well being- our soldiers put their lives on the line, every single day! If you can't respect that as a company let alone as a decent human- I can't respect you or your business! I hope you figure things out, and do the right thing! What happened this week was wrong and insulting!
If this is how Home Depot is going to treat our Veterans, then I will go to Lowes when I need to pick something up. Way to go Home Depot (or should I say to the "Manager" of store E Spokane #4714, 5617 E Sprague Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99212). Your "Manager" needs to be demoted or fired for his lack of professionalism at the very least AND he should post a written apology to every service member (past or present) for his lack of respect for the gentleman shopping who was treated so rudely. If I could have given no stars I wo... read more
It's a shame to hear any business disrespect anyone who serve or have served our country. What is it? 20% discount? Small price for poor PR, don't you think? Now, if that manager said: "Listen, as a manager, I have been told to cut back on our discount policy, but because I disagree, and I respect all military, I'll give you my employee discount." Just to make things right & that manager would be praised. Poor training. Not just a workforce training issue, but from a humanity standpoint as well.
You NEED to get a VETERANS benefits. Ignorance does you no good .. and many will shop elsewhere now.. BOO to your treatment..if this really did happen.. and BOO to your rudness..
I am still in shock of what qualifies a veteran. If you serve in the military whether it be a day, week, month, year or a lifetime, you are a vet and should be honored. If a company ever asked me to do that to a veteran I would question working for that type of company or just blatantly ignore that "policy" and honor the veteran. I can honestly say I will think twice before EVER STEPPING into a Home Depot ever again.
POOR SERVICE, POOR VALUES.. POOR MANAGEMENT.... MISS THE BOAT ON SO MANY LEVELS.... Remaber to honor and support our VETS.
I'm from Missouri and a contractor I give all my business to home depot until NOW! I will be going to Menards or Lowes! Absolutely disgusting treating a veteran that way! They fought for our freedom!
