Our day starts at 4:30 AM. That's when our main baker arrives to measure flour, mix sugar, and bake delicious cookies and desserts for our front counter. As Dayton locals come to grab tasty treats, we're also hard at work on custom orders. We firmly believe every tailgate could use some homemade buckeyes and that, no matter how you slice it, a wedding isn't complete without the perfect cake. I had ordered and picked up a box of cookies for a kids party yesterday (16 Dec) and was super excited as I had heard such good things about The Cakery's products. I must say, unfortunately my experience was very disappointing as the assortment of cookies I picked up (gingerbread man, pinwheels, lemon snowflakes, thumbprint cookies, snickerdoodle cookies) was so hard even my adult teeth hurt when I bit into some of the cookies. Hi Del, I am sorry about the cookies but the assortment that you ordered are generally hard dough cookies. The gingerbread,thumbprint and pinwheels are made with a crisp cookie dough. The snowflakes are a soft dough and snikerdoodles should have a crunch to them. I can replace them for you with a softer batch of cookies such as the iced butter ,chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin cookies. You can always ask for soft cookies when you place the order. I recently used the Cakery for my bridal shower cake and my wedding cake after my now mother in law insisted that this was the best cake in Dayton and the only option for our wedding. We did not go anywhere else! I was rather disappointed after my bridal shower cake was not decorated at all to our specifications even after my mother in law had personally visited the store twice to insure that it was what we wanted.
