nice but... – ...make sure you know what the rules of the pool table are the night you're there. I kicked some guy and his girlfriend's butts at pool and they got all hungup about the fact that I didn't have a partner. Whatever. I beat you both, so gettaoutamyface! As for the Brig itself, it IS a cool bar. Bar tenders are cool and none of that "dump the drink for another one with less alcohol if you don't tip me" BS here. Drinks are also reasonably priced considering there's no door charge to get in. But here's my advice: hi... read more

Drinks are strong but $$$$ – The brig is pretty nice except for the super expensive little drinks.

Pseudo chic – Crowded and trendy.. but sort of feels like a cool hipster happening place.. after all the yuppies have invaded it. You'll still see genuinely interesting ragers creating the scene, but the last few times I've gone I've run into too many after work drones who bring the energy level way down.

retro nightlife; no attitude – I always have fun here. Have yet to be there for a DJ, but thursday nights are always fun. Good crowd, no lines, retro set-up. Great after work place--too bad they don't serve food. You will likely meet someone in line for the bathroom since there's only two and they're co-ed!

Babe's goes Hollywood – I too miss the old Brig. I like it when it was a dodgy dive with a "come as you are " feel. At least they kept that "Rat Pack" Ocean's Eleven mural. This place is just way too crowded now. One night, the unisex bathrooms didn't lock - I've only experienced this in gay bars. But the jury is still out... and if it is a gay bar, I would suggest going to the Rooster and Fish down the block (much friendlier atmos).

the Final Stop – In the venice circut these days, The brig is always on the list. No matter what kind of night you've got in for, its local with a mod play, and the women seem to like it also. There tends to be an element that takes itself too seriously, but nothing like in Hollywood...Good place, Good crowd for an upscale eve.

Ch-ch-ch-changes – I remember working in the neighborhood when this was a seedy, run-down hole in the wall with a rowdy bunch of daytime drinkers. Now, it's been completely remodeled, velvet rope and all. I have to laugh at parts of it. The jukebox is considerably better these days and they even host DJs on occassion. A part of me still missed the old Brig, though. Check it out if there's not a line.
