Can’t support a restaurant that serves fillets of endangered animals
I will not support a business that sells endangered shark meat (thresher shark). Shark meat provides no nutritional value to a diet, is apparently flavorless (never tried it), and is full of mercury. If this was a steak made of lion, would they still sell it? I bet not.
I can't believe thresher shark is on the menu of a restaurant in US. Pretty clueless for a restaurant with "green" in name.
Frustrated to hear that a company that is so invested in sustainability decides to place shark on its menu. While definitely better than some species, eating thresher sharks still threatens our oceans. To better understand your food choice's impact on the environment, I recommend visiting Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch. And even if you are a person who doesn't care about sharks, please know that whales and turtles have been killed in the drift nets used to catch thresher sharks.
Business response:
Hi Katie, We totally agree and do follow the seafood watch which states that Thresher shark is a good alternative and not endangered. http://www.seafoodwatch.org/seafood.../groups/shark...
Seriously? Sharks on the menu? No way
I would never go to that place and others should avoid that place as well as it serves endangered species (Thresher shark).
Business response:
Hi Lukas, We definitely hear your concerns on this. We always want to make sure that any of our vendors practice sustainable methods. The Thresher shark in our special today comes from Santa Monica Seafood https://www.santamonicaseafood.com/sustainability I've also provided a link to seafood watch. The Thresher fish is being fished sustainably http://www.seafoodwatch.org/seafood.../groups/shark...
