The only benefit I got from Temple University was being in such direct contact with a microchosm of the destructive institutions that structure our own society. Temple University actively infuses settler-colonial mentality and white, middle class student chauvinism into its rhetoric to students and its racist TU police alert system and laughs in the face of its own mission to serve the community by actively gentrifying North Philly and pushing residents out of their homes further and further west of Broad Street. I'm so glad I went to school that has the time to demonize children and reinforce a sense of coddled superiority in its mostly white and/or out of state gentrifying student population. The same school that didn't think it was worth notifying these students that one of its police officers helped beat Joyce Quaweay to death with a baton in her own home in front of her daughters after she was stripped naked and handcuffed to a bench.
