Te House of Tea

4.1

About this business

In keeping with our commitment to Fair Trade and charitable organizations, Te House of Tea aims to reduce wasteful consumption within our community. We output very little waste as a restaurant: about as much as the average household in a week. You'll notice this fact simply by the fact we don't have a dumpster at our building. We accomplish this by smart composting, aggressive recycling, and reduction of packaging: we compost all our tea leaves, and other vegetable matter, about 2-3 pounds a day. We keep a compost pile at ho... read more

Ok restaurant and not so good tea house – I was dubious about this shop due to the not glowing reviews but decided to see for myself. It was mediocre at best. The food was OK but the tea was awful. It was not brewed properly and the staff was less than friendly. It looked like a neighborhood hang out place which would explain why they might still be in business. In these bad economic times good service is a must!

Not what I expected – When I read that the entire tea room could be rented for "girlie luncheons" or tea parties, the image of a quaint, "proper" tea house came to mind. This was not the case. Tables were dirty and the service was lousy. Basically, this place looks right for college kids with laptops. If you're looking for a fancy little tea shop for the girls this is not it.

Great place for tea and incredible crepes – What a pleasant place! I've been to the House of Tea twice now. Both times, I've been treated to great tea, surprisingly adventurous food, and friendly service. I'm still learning about tea, so I was grateful that the young men behind the counter were patient enough to walk me through the immense lists of teas that line the walls. On my first visit, I settled on a basic but flavorful Japanese green tea. I also had the Margherita panini, which was amazing, and a dessert crepe with l... read more

Not my cup of tea – I went to this shop because of reading good reviews. This was not my experience. The service was not what it should have been. The boy did not know much about tea, and they do not know how to make good tea. Newspapers were all over and the table was dirty. It was not an alluring atmosphere to me. The music was too loud and did not fit a tea shop atmosphere. The food was just so so. I won't go back.

Calming tea in a calming place – What a place to slow your pace of life down! Located conveniently right in the middle of the Montrose area, the House of Tea is my most recent discovery, and I'm very delighted with the place. Great for reading alone, meeting friends, or studying. Clean lines, and comfortable seating everywhere. And, of course, an extensive collection of teas. Though understated, their oolongs are top-quality, surprising taste in every cup. Ask to see their Pu-erh brick; another excellent tea. And they have a... read more

Nice Neighborhood Gathering Spot with WIFI – A small quaint house where they serve black, green and white teas along with some specialty tea mixes. They also have sweets and a few sandwiches. Tables and chairs for eating and a couple of couches for just sitting. It is WIFI connected for bringing your laptop. I have bought some of their teapots for my own home. I wish they had a wider selection of food for lunch. I struggled to find something to eat. The food is average nothing exceptional. Also they are not very knowlegable ... read more

Love this place! – All too often, tea houses are stuffy, frilly places trying to impress you with their specific rendition of an English high tea. Well if you're more interested in really good tea and great bites to eat than doilies and crumpets, Te is the place for you. And if you're like me, the fact that their teas are Fair Trade and their mission is to be as "green" as possible really hits home. I love everything about the place and hope to enjoy this great little addition to our neighborhood as often as possible. As for... read more

Tea is something to be enjoyed in peace, by yourself or with friends. Té House of Tea has succeeded in creating a place of peace, a feeling of zen. In this small shop, there's a variety of sitting locations, each with its own ambience, from center court to private nook tucked away in the corner. Comfortable bunkette seatings line the walls. Excellent tea selection, with a very knowledge and friendly staff (advice: get to know the owners, Connie and Alyson; they are very accessible and know a lot about teas). Creative and del... read more
