I've been a patient of Dr. Wellens since 2004 and my most recent appointment was a week ago. She is an outstanding physician and we are very blessed to have doctor of her caliber in central Florida. She stays current with the latest advances in her field, I recommend her to all my family and friends.
Dr. Wellens is one of the kindest doctors I have ever been treated by! She is always using the latest technology and she is up to date on so many things, giving me insight on the latest recommendations! She is always going to conferences trying to learn more about podiatry and things that will help her patients! I have had extensive foot surgeries including an ankle fusion and she has helped me so much! I would recommend her to anyone having any kind of problem with their feet or ankles!
Charged before seeing the doctor, including; specialist copay ( no issue there), an echogram, which didn't appear to be used for diagnosis, ultrasound on both feet, but actually only performed on one foot. After diagnosis, she offered no other option for treatment except surgery, with no explanation of what to expect or why there was no other option. 4 days before surgery, she discharged me from her care.

I went to Dr Wellens with an Achilles tendon repair. By the time I could do anything my tendon had torn and my foot was extremely enlarged. We scheduled my surgery and I was off my foot for one week. I was able to walk on my foot after a week in a boot and then in my athletic shoes the next week. Within 3 weeks you could not see the two holes that were made during the surgery. I would highly recommend this surgery to anyone. The staff at the Lakeland office are awesome !!!
My experience with Dr Wellens has been nothing short of Exceptional. I had terrible heal pain ( Planters Facilitates ) for nearly a year . Dr Wellens on my first visit told me she was going to help me and started a conservative treatment with steroid shots. They did help but it was short lived and I was told that I needed surgery to correct and stop this pain. Dr Wellens had wonderful patient care and follow up. Surgery was completely successful and I no longer have any pain. Thanks !!!!!.
She is absolutely the best when it comes to feet...easy to talk to and she will fix your pain Highly recommended
This office is the WORSE I have ever encountered. While I really like seeing Dr. Wellens, the office is an incompetent JOKE! They hit you up for money b4 you see the Dr. They NEVER send statements letting you know how much money they have recd from your insurance co. They just take & take & take. The girls that work at the desk are either stupid or pretend they are. I spoke to their office mgr Fallon who is the biggest idiot on the planet. I will get my orthotics and never return!
