I feel that Tartine Manufactory was built to create lines. They could've designed the space to be more efficient, but they didn't. If they moved the pastry case forward towards the front, so the lines from outside feed directly into it, it would've been heaps better. I will always love Tartine breads. I buy two to three at a time. I slice and freeze them. Pop them in the toaster whenever I need a good toast. The bostock they made was meh (misguided grapefuit topping). The brioche was delicious. The food is good, but they are horribly inefficient. Even if they have space inside, they'll make you wait outside forever. They need to improve their logistics. Not sure why people keep coming here, I think San Franciscans just enjoy waiting in line for an hour to get their piece of bread.

love Tartine Manufactory. The elegant comfort food menu, and the staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Great wine list and of course superb desserts and breads. Go for dinner - they take reservations!

Drinks/shims were great. Service was good but lead us astray on ordering (we had too much). Food was surprisingly unimpressive - squid, carrots and grain porridge were good. Chicken was too salty, grossly uneven portions (though meant for sharing), beans unevenly cooked, fish was under seasoned, salad had way too much dressing. I could go on and on (because we ordered so many dishes...). I was a big fan of Bar Tartine, and was excited to try this place - doubtful I will go back for dinner. May check out the bakery.
