We had a 10pm reservation for a party of 10 for my birthday this past Friday night. My ex-colleague in NY got me to TAO during my business trip. Loved the ambiance and the food. What a memorable evening.
Great Pad Thai at Tao, but I was treated like a homeless person. I ordered water and an expensive meal, but they provided bad service.

I have been coming to this restaurant 2-3 times a week for lunch, whenever I am actually in NYC since they opened. For the past few years I noticed that they are trying way too hard to get people to sit at the bar since during daytime there is no bar scene, understandable so, working customers cannot consume alcoholic beverages or be seen sitting at the bar during working hours. The food is SUPERB. The atmosphere soothing. Mathias is the absolute best; he was professional and accommodating to even the most demanding in our group: much appreciation for a job well done.
Food is great, the place lovely, music is awfully loud, you cant talk to your compainon.... A pity you havent figured out that good dining includes being able to talk to one another
Good music, beautiful place, nice crow and atmosphere but our overall service was disappointing, the server didn't smile, not personality at all.
