Bad Service – We have been regular visitors to this restaurant and the variety and quality of the offerings is wonderful and has remained consistent in quality. However, the service on my recent visit was particularly bad. We had confirmed our reservation by phone for 8:15PM and we arrived well in time only to be informed that the reservation was made for 8:30PM. However, we were seated only by 8:45 PM. There was no attempt made by the staff or management to apologize or compensate for the obvious error in reservation and de... read more

Just another restaurant – My wife and I were finally able to make it here for dinner without reservations, after hearing so much about it for months. We ended up having dinner at the bar and were very disappointed. The bartender never helped us through the menu since we've never been there before, so we just picked items out randomly that sounded nice. She didn't seem as if she even knew what was on the menu, never got back to us, and judging by the looks on the faces of the other customers, we were not alone. She was so mes... read more

Don't Miss It – Look at the more recent reviews for this restaurant. This was recently rated in the top 100 bay area restaurants, and they deliver a great experience. The food is contemporary Vietnamese / fusion, and we enjoyed everything we tried. Don't miss the spring rolls - they're small, but tasty. We found the ambiance romantic, not too noisy, and a bit crowded. Dishes are great for sharing. It's a little pricey, but the restaurant is very popular (deservedly so) and the food is great.

A Beautiful Little Jewel... – ...of a restaurant. We went on busy Friday night, and were seated right away (book online!!!) Our server was friendly, and extremely helpful. Husband had a very nice glass of wine (good selection), and I had a signature infused martini (strong!) Food was AMAZING. Every course was perfection. We started with a crab and artichoke wonton soup with a Thai basil and lime-scented broth. It was the most beautiful (looking and tasting) thing I have eaten in recent memory. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it ... read more

Poor response by mgr – There is an attitude of total arrogance by the manager of this restaurant. Customer service is not a concept that is understood here, if my experience is any indication. My party asked to speak with the manager about an unexpected (and inappropriate) charge on our bill - at the suggestion of our waiter. She refused to come over to speak with us about it. We were polite, paid our bill and left - never to return.

Promises More than It Delivers – Decorated in tones of sage and bronze, the dining room at Tamarine could be a culinary haven in downtown Palo Alto. Unfortunately, looks are deceiving: poor preparation, distracting music, and inflated prices diminish the dining experience. With selections including Shrimp Spring Rolls, Seared Sea Scallop Salad, and Salt and Pepper Calamari the menu is enticing. Regrettably, all sounds good, but the execution needs work: the Wok Seared Beef and Pho Noodles were burned and the unshelled Tamari... read more

tasty food but pricey – I loved the food and the atmosphere. The service was slow the first time I went, but the second time was much better as they probably are working out the kinks. The menu is a little limited but everything I have had was great. Wine list is impressive too. Great place. I hope the menu gets a little bigger though.

KaChango! – I had dinner at Tamarine last night, a good experience. Our server was very friendly and warm, she spent a lot of time at our table and rattled off food descriptions efficiently--but in a fun and personal manner. The rocket shrimp we had for an appetizer was excellent--but we wished there were more of them to go around. Although the plates are small, they are loaded with flavour--so mostly I don't know if we'd want bigger portions. Most of our plates still had food on them when we finished. Although the prices se... read more

Wonderful Vietnamese food!! – My new favorite restaurant! The restaurant was gorgeous with a chic-lounge kind of way. The food was very inventive...with a nice Californian twist to Vietnamese food. I had to wait a little bit longer than I would have liked for a table but the food was well worth it.
