Food is okay, ambiance keeps me coming back. – This place is hidden in a corner of the Viet Hoa plaza. The food is typical vietnamese. Pho, rice plates, fried egg rolls, and spring rolls. They do offer a cool 7 course beef meal for 2 people at only $18. Can't beat that and it's worth at least one try. So if you try it, bring a big appetite. The ambiance is what keeps us coming back. It's decorated very trendy and has a cool firepit. If you sit at one of the tables that flank the firepit, beware as it gets really hot and your... read more
Great food, Friendly service and Nice decor – Tamarind tree is hidden in the back of a rather funky parking lot in the International District. This helps to keep it slightly secret. Once you make it in the door, you'll be suprised at what a beautiful place it is. Drinks are carefully crafted and include things like Ginger Cosmopolitans, Lemongrass Martinis and Tam's Mojito. Food is delicious, although I woudn't be sure that it was "authentic" Vietnamese, that's not important because the flavors are wonderful. I recommend the... read more
Seattle loves this sleek Little Saigon hideaway for its authentic Vietnamese food at wallet-friendly prices. – The Scene Vibrant orange walls and stone tables around a central fireplace set the comfortable-yet-stylish mood at this affordable gem hidden in the back corner of the Viet Wah strip mall in Little Saigon. Like the decor, food presentation is attractive: crisp dishes neatly arranged on square earthenware. Outside, the heated patio boasts a waterfall. A casually dressed, mixed young and old crowd packs the small wait... read more
Best Vietnamese in town – I eat here almost every week, so needless to day, I am a huge fan. The menu is extensive and consists of many provincial/traditional Vietnamese dishes. (I was born in Vietnam.) The appetizer selection is great, especially the tasty spring rolls and green papaya salad. The entrees are solid, try the noodle bowls, crepes, or seven courses of beef (which is a lot of food!). The cocktails list is varied too, lots of options for martinis and cosmopolitans. The restaurant decor and atmosphere is nice and ... read more
great, casual place in the ID – The Tamarind Tree is a wonderful place in the ID for Vietnamese food. The menu has a ton of interesting things to choose from and the flavors are incredible. Parking is terrible and you may have to wait but it's worth it!
Great food, atmosphere, value – We recently had a party of six at the Tamarind Tree and had a wonderful time. We sat outside by the waterfall. We ordered family style with plenty of dishes to share and very reasonable prices. I would definitely go back. The decor inside is very chic and even the sinks in the restrooms were cool. Thumbs up for this little ID hideaway!
Very good vietnamese food – Tamarind Tree has really good Vietnamese food. It's also very vegetarian friendy, one of the few Vietnamese restaurants that provides vegetarian (no fish sauce) sauces. For the quality of the food, the prices are very low. The downside is that it has been discovered. When you have to wait 30+ minutes on a Mon, Tue, Wed evening then going for me loses it's appeal. The cocktails are good too btw, and at $6 a pop, that's so cheap. The review below talks about authenticity. Whatever. The whole authenti... read more
Not authentic! – All the good reviews about Tamarind Tree are SHOCKING! First of all, it's located in this weird ally... be careful of beggars and thieves. Lock your car doors! Next, the food is extremely overpriced for Vietnamese cuisine. You can go to a lot of places in (and out) of Chinatown where you can get the same stuff for less than $5. The food is not even good here. My porkchops were dried and flavorless, and the portions are small. It's not authentic at all--you just think it is because it's "different." But like ... read more
Great Cocktails! – This stylish, cozy restaurant portrays a festive environment with fresh asian-inspired decor. The waterfall and candles on the patio create a soothing ambiance for chatting over drinks -- drinks that are great! I highly recommend the Tamarintini, for those who prefer a stronger, not watered-down cocktail. The food is pretty good and adventurous, and the service is ok. It's a little busy on weeknights, and my food was a little cold when I got it, but our server was really busy. But this is a nice place to e... read more
