The ABSOLUTE BEST restaurant in the outer Banks! We choose a different restaurant each of the 8 nights we were on vacation and we were so amazed by the food!! So, amazed, we ate there on our last night in obx and will be our first and last stop next year!! Great food, great service, and great atmosphere...it doesn't get any better than the Tale of the Whale!( p.s. I never write reviews that how pleased we were)
This place brought on trickery I had never seen, the desert tray was sitting right there as we were seated. Let's just say dessert almost became dinner. Our food was absolutely fantastic. The chocolate martinis were perfect and our waitress, Fara, was nothing short of amazing! Worth every minute of our hour long wait! (We were a party of 10)

Perfect dining experience for our last night on vacation. Josh, our server, was so attentive and expedient, that we felt like royalty! We started with the shrimp and grits appetizer, which was a delightful departure from we have experienced before. I had the filet Mignon Oscar-style. Had another wonderful meal at Tale of the Whale today. I had Mahi Mahi Oscar and my husband had a 16 oz ribeye. It was all cooked to perfection and so much food we couldn't eat it all. The service was awesome as well.
We had a wonderful waitress Missy. Extremely attentive, super friendly. A true delight.
Great food but not a fan of the charcoal steak. But fish and chicken were great
