Excellent Service, Food, Value We were extremely pleased with this restaurant. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. We were surprised by the reasonable price, given the quality. It's not a fancy place, but it is pleasant, there are nice white tablecloths and the lighting and low-volume Indian music was just right.
Family Not the best of the Indian restaurants that I have tried before but pretty good. The service was a little laggy but not too bad (hope that they make everything from scratch). Great place if you don't mind waiting and spending time with your friends and family before dinner.
Great place Great place for a group meal! Good food and good service in Georgetown ... especially if you like to share.
Coming to Coming to DC a few weeks after my trip to India I found myself increasingly craving Indian food. A friend took me to Taj. We had the chaat papri and some papd as appetizers as starters and shared the Taj Thali. The papdom was pretty amazing, crispy and full of flavor. Off the Thali the chicken makhani was nice
Healthy portions Healthy portions and delicious food. Nice to find a nice ethnic "joint" in Georgetown that's not hugely overpriced. Good service (sometimes too good) and reasonable "price performance ratio." Will eagerly return soon.

Downstairs, you have the bar and pizza oven, which take up most of the first floor. The second and third floor are where the tables are. Overall, the restaurant can only hold a mere 59 people according to the Fire Marshal PROS: great curry and rice, home cooked tast CONS: slow service
Taj Of India is extremely friendly with authentic Indian fare. Upon walking into the Taj of India one is greeted warmly by the establishment, setting the stage for the rest of the experience. The individuals here are great and very friendly and was helpful in assisting with all the wonderful menu items. We ordered Curry Chicken (note, the medium curry is very mild, order the hot curry) and the Taj Thali with extra naan. There was an excess of food! We ate until we could not any more, then they happily boxed up the rest for l... read more
I went to Washington I went to Washington to see the cherry blossoms. On the last of my stay we decided to search for Indian restaurants in Georgetown. We came upon Taj and based on the menu we decided to try. It was a very good choice. Food was good, service was great and although not a very big restaurant you felt comfortable
The owner and staff The owner and staff are personable . The owner ran out in the middle of a rain storm to hail a cab for a couple of women! Awesome service.I recommend you book your reservation on their website, it was so simple.
