Took my husband there for his 60th birthday. The service was great and so was the food. Unfortunately, the hostess was terrible, she seated a table of 5 before us even though they arrived about 10 minutes after us. She even gave them the choice of pushing two tables together to sit outside or taking a larger table inside. They opted for outside, so smaller parties including us who were there first continued to wait. Like Juan Mari Arzak or Mugaritz but much better. I'm not kidding. If ever in Costa Mesa, CA this is a must.
Food was awesome as expected. Two complaints force me to remove a star: 1) Very short pours on the wine pairings. Less than a finger in the bottom of a stemless glass. Couldn't have been more than 2oz. These weren't pricy wines -- $30 for 4 2oz pours wasn't worth it. 2) We arrived 10 mins before our reservation time, and our spots at the counter were cleared and ready for us.
