I went to Medicine Wheel Dental for a full exam, x-rays and cleaning. They were friendly and attentive until the end of the appointment when they gave me the estimate of my treatment plan. I was passed off to the financial person who brought me into his office. I suddenly felt like I was at a used-car dealership. The estimate of services totaled $6,575! I am so pleased to have finally made it to Medicine Wheel Dental. The care from Dr. Swidler and the team was patient-centered, caring, and efficient. On my first visit, I was offered specialty services to maximize healing from TMJ issues but I did not feel pressured when I declined. The mercury amalgam fillings are now out of my mouth, a tooth was saved without root canal, and a craniosacral treatment I received after my last visit for dental cleaning has had miraculous effects on chronic pain in my lower back. It is no wonder that people travel from all over the country to vist Dr. Swidler at Medicine Wheel Dental. Dr. Swidler is not only exceptionally knowledgeable, but he is also very kind and caring with his patients. I never feel rushed, in fact, it's the opposite. I've been given a tour of his facility and feel included in his plans for the future. I've never visited a dentists office that feels so much like home and family. I agree with the negative reviews of Dr. Swigler. Unlike other biological dentists I've seen, who have been attentive, flexible, and open to feedback, Dr. Swidler has strong ideas about what's best for you that he proceeds to forcibly impose. I went to him for bite-wings and an exam, and he poked and prodded my crowns with a sharp metal pick and declared that three of them needed to be replaced immediately. For me this office is a diamond in the desert. I have seen numerous dentists in both the general scope as well as the biologic/holistic. The approach at Medicine Wheel makes sense, is easy to understand, and from what I have seen comparatively, their fees are quite good for the speciality they provide. I left may initial appointment with more dental knowledge then what I have had collectively obtained from all the other dentist I have seen before. After reading the comments about Dr. Swidler I am amazed that they saw the same person / office I saw. Everyone there was so extremely kind, polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. Dr. Swidler so the most nice dentist I have EVER met. His information was clear, accurate, and presented me with options regarding my dentistry. After 2 other opinions prior to going to Dr. Swidler's office, I found his fees to be average with the other specialists I saw. I saw both Dr Swidler and his partner for several months. What should have been a simple proceedure became a long drawn out trauma. I'm sorry I didn't read these reviews before going to him, because like another reviewer, I was VERY heavily pressured by Swidler and his office manager into accepting extra treatments I'd repeatedly said I didn't want. I went in for a consult regarding a root canal, or to simply pull an excruciatingly painful tooth. I did not see Dr Swindler himself, but a new dentist I'd never seen. (I have a friend who sees Swidler) I was ushered into a chair, and told "root canals are BAD", and some Japanese herbal method to "save the tooth" was the best route to go.I asked what was the cost? Swidler is nice is if you have an unlimited budget and do not question him. He and his son were extremely rude to me. I could not believe how they changed when I did not treat him as a god, but questioned his $15,000 plan. I need a non-toxic dentist and was forced to put up with his rudeness, but when I got a second opinion, he and his son, who is the office manager, started being really mean.
