Little patience for a pediatrician. He pushed vaccines.
Dr. Monson is very thorough. Never makes us feel rushed. Great care!
My 16-yr old daughter and I had a surprisingly upsetting first-time experience with Dr. Nelson. The staff and the nurse were wonderful. The doctor, upon entering the room and greeting us, made a comment: "I am so glad it's Friday, I get to sleep in tomorrow". This doctor lacks compassion, doesn’t listen, has little concern about a child’s over all health, and doesn’t value the parents input when the parents have been managing their child’s health issues for longer than she has been involved. Find another doctor…any doctor.
To be fair, she appears to be the one doctor at this practice that actually looks at her patient’s notes before walking in the room. However, she was totally off base with her reasoning and advice- and when I saw my normal pediatrician (Dr Joy), even she rolled her eyes and told me Dr Monson was completely wrong.
She can be a danger to a child. My two-year-old has special needs and has been throwing up consistently, I asked for her help on what I should do next because his GERD is agitated. Her response was he is at his max dose that I should contact the pediatrician and that there’s nothing she can do. I contacted her back saying the pediatrician will just refer me back to you. she is the most amazing doctor and really cured my child very well! i really recommend this doctor!!!
We took our 9 year old to Dr. Nelson after going through many GI at Lurie Childrens. She was amazing with our daughter - very thoughtful in her approach. She has always responded quickly via the Lurie system when we had questions. I am an adult internal medicine doctor so VERY picky and she exceeded our hopes!! Highly recommend.
I took my 15 yr old daughter to see Dr. Nelson. We were very disappointed with the visit overall. As a specialist who works with children, I was expecting more from her. She spent less than 10 minutes with us and did not seem to care about finding the cause of my daughter's GI pain. She is definitely not warm and fuzzy, like she portrays on her website. If you are looking for a pediatric GI, I'd look elsewhere.
