a little piece of the big city here in anchorage – i love living here in anchorage. but being from the northeast i miss the selecton of places to dine i enjoyed in the DC area. i whent to Sullivan's last week and it was like being back home. there was such a great atmosphere. Great spot to bring a group, especially when you want to impress – We had friends in from New York 2 weeks ago, so we brought them to Sullivans for a night out. I wanted them to see that Raleigh is a nice town and make sure they had a good meal. I think we made the right decision. The food was excellent, I had a nice tender filet cooked as I ordered it. Simply The Best Service and Steak – Sullivan's continues to produce an excellent steak, with mashed potatoes from Heaven. The GM, Bill White, remains calm on the floor and has great control of the restaurant. Wonderful wine list, great fresh seafood and the Service is excellent.
Worst Experience in High End Dining – I would say that my last experience at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Anchorage was the worst. The service was so bad that we ended up walking out. We picked the place for our anniversary dinner because we heard good reviews about it. However, the wait was too long for our food. We were there for an hour and all we were served was our drinks. Very good steak restaurant – We had reservations for Saturday night @ 7:30 and as soon as 7:30 rolled around we were sat. Had the Kansas City strip which was cooked medium rare and it was exactly what I asked for. I did order the peppercorn sauce but you don't need it as the steaks have tons of pepper on them to begin with. One of the people in our party did not like her steak and she sent it back. Thursday Bar Menu Special Can't Be Beat – If you've got the bank roll to do it, then eat, drink and be rich in their dining area. But if you're just looking to have a quick meal and cocktail, sit at their bar area on Thursdays and get half off the bar menu. Everything on it is good, minus the stuffed mushrooms. i don't know what they were thinking with putting shrimp in those.
Great Food, Wonderful Staff – Walked in on a Saturday night at 8:30, and was told there was a short wait wait, and as soon as we got our drinks we were asked if we were ready to sit. The server was great and by the end of dinner new our names and everything. My steak was awesome- and my dates fish was great. This restaurant is been around for awhile and busy for a reason. I will now dine there 2-3x a month.
On Expense Account? Then Maybe... – This is just another chain-version of an "upscale" steakhouse built for people on expense accounts, or those who are not but want to impress their friends with what they consider to be an "upscale" experience. More than a great steak! – My boyfriend and I dined here before attending a show at the Atwood. It was an experience that surpassed our expectations! We allowed an hour and a half for dinner and let our server know of the show time. He (and the kitchen) timed everything perfectly for us! The server was knowledgable about the menu, but not pretentious. We enjoyed a bottle of red wine--Gnarly Head Zinfandel--which was an amazing value at $32.
