Outstanding and competent surgeon. He was the one that solved my a-fib condition but also recommended the Hybrid Maze which had a 90% chance of success versus the (then) 50-75% success rate. He was absolutely right.
I've been seeing Dr. McSwain since 2011. He has taken care of my arrythmia with medication and has monitored it well. I am in great hands.
The doctor made sure to order an echocardiogram before my next yearly visit. He cares about his patients.

He is a renowned Electrophysiologist and I am blessed to have him as my physician. I failed all treatments to control my Atrial Fibrillation and Flutter and in response, 3 years ago, he placed a Watchman device in my heart and gave me the gift of a longer life. He also started me on Dofetilide medication and has kept my heart in sinus rhythm.
I have been with Dr Sheifer for 20 years or more. From the outset, I have been impressed with his monitoring heart valve ailments and tweaking the meds, if required. Along the way, a stent was installed. Finally, in 2021, after consultation with others at Virginia Heart, it was decided that surgery was in order to repair a valve. More than expected was required.
