village eater Went to Stephanos on Market Street this past weekend. Food great as always. Service good once seated. Blonde owner rude and unfriendly as always. Multiple people walked out while waiting because no one spoke with them or they had reservations and were told by owner sorry she was still seating hour before. Would help a lot if a separate hostess would greet you , take name and update you and at least thank you for coming.

My opinion........ I have been there a few times & thought the food, wine & the portions were really good........However, I have been reading the reviews of how unfriendly the owner & waitress's are & am very disappointed in that.......How would they feel if they didn't get tipped? Well that's how people feel who are putting out good money to eat there. Stephano's Ristorante Six of us went here for dinner. The food is good but sorry to say not great and not worth the pricey tag. The one thing my friends and I always talk about when we talk about this place is how we won't forget how rude the hostess and staff was. It is horribly small. It really, desperately needs major renovations. I felt like I was in an old run down basement.
"WAY TO GO NEW OWNERS" Just like the previous reviewer, I also never wrote a review before, but I wanted to let others in on what a great restaurant we have here is our own little town. Stephano's offers a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We had a truly wonderful dining experience. Stephano's Ristorante I love this place! If you want good Italian food make a reservation ,be there on time have a glass of wine(bye the way the glass of wine they serve you is huge)!) I have read many blogs about the service being rude I have been to both locations never had a problem. If you are an ass I guess you will get treated like one where-ever you go. Make a reservation be there on time ,enjoy,enjoy manga manga its good food.!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite! In response to the people complaining about the small size of the restaurant, I think that's what so great about the place. It's so intimate. Often we end up having a conversation with the next table over. And in regards to the "rude" hostess/waitress, I find her to be friendly and efficient. Awesome Food! Stephano's is the "Best Kept Secret" in the Hudson Valley. Tucked away off of Rte 9 on Middlebush, what a find! The food is amazing, no matter what I have ordered I have never been less than amazed. I am used to driving to the Bronx to Arthur Ave, to get authentic Italian cooking. SAVE THE GAS!! AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was the most awful dining experience ever! When we first arrived, we were not even acknowledged by the staff. Then when we were finally seated, a waiter came tearing out of the back and almost knocked me down. They never served bread or poured water when we were seated either. There were no water glasses even set at the table. The waiter was clumsy and splashed wine on our guest. They have a limited wine selection and only offered two kinds of beer and no liquor.
