This debt collection agency initiated a court summons in order to increase their own billing opportunities even though I'd attempted to contact them via phone, email and their contact form on their web page for two weeks previously to initiate a payment plan. They're also charging me a 26% interest rate on that payment plan. None of that is illegal, just mildly unethical. Just be aware that going forward and document all of your own interactions with them.
