This is the best restaurant anywhere near Old Dominion University and they have a Reuben sandwich with an apple slaw. That is unbelievable. If you do not come here to eat this sandwich, you have shortchanged yourself. I love the Starving Artist Cafe and everything about it.
Really good food. Had brunch there and they had frozen Margarita that was really good. Prices and service were on point and the atmosphere was really doing it for me. Good find!
Casual and low-key dining experience. Some people dressed up (after church?), some people in t-shirts and shorts. Table and counter seating. Vegan/vegetarian options. I had the sweet potato salad without the goat cheese - it was nice and fresh.
This place has way too many good reviews for how sad the service and food was. My wife and I showed for mothers day some people reserved ahead they got us a table in about 20 min (that didn't bother me at all very reasonable). Once we were seated we were served relatively quickly for coffee. All fine an dandy nothing out of the ordinary. Restaurants always have salt and pepper on the table that I never use because the food has flavor. I actually HAD to use the salt on the table because my meal lacked any sort of satisfying flavor. And it wasn’t anything complex that I ordered. It was a breakfast burrito. Not to mention that we waited 30min when barely anyone was there. Same with the coffee!
