My wife had brain surgery at Stanford to remove a tumor in 1999 by Dr. James Addler who was Chief neurosurgeon at the time. The operation was a success but he sent his intern to remove a drain from her forehead. The intern told my wife he had never done this before but "how hard could it be". The shunt came off and stayed in her forehead. He then ran out of the room and left my wife with body fluids running down the side of her face.
