Over the past ten years, my son has seen many great ophthalmologists at UCLA Jules Stein, unfortunately Dr Pineles was not one of them. Her patient and parent interactions are curt, rude and dismissive on more than one occasion. Also, not good with children.
I have been taking my daughter there for years. When her original doctor left, I saw Dr. Pineles. I had told her my daughter was having problems with her vision. She examined my daughter’s eyes and told me there is nothing wrong with them. That it’s a behavioral issue and my daughter was faking it intentionally. I was shocked as she didn’t even read her health history to see she was cognitively delayed and wouldn’t even be smart enough to do this. Dr. Pineles is a wonderful doctor. She is knowledgable and takes the time to listen to any issues and answer questions accordingly. We were sent to her because there wasn't a vision specialist that could treat my granddaughter, in our area! We really got lucky with our insurance's choice of Dr. Pineles! Dr. Pineles found a genetic opthalmologist to do genetic testing and also got an ERG performed at another location so that we could get a diagnosis quicker! It turns out that my granddaughter has a rare retinal disorder that ... read more
Dr. Pineles is the best pediatric ophthalmologist on the west coast. She is not only wonderful with young patients, she is kind, centering, and highly professional with parents. If you have the opportunity to choose or get Dr. Pineles, you could not be in better medical hands.
