If your shift points are erratic with your automatic transmission or if you hear noises when shifting, you should have it checked out as soon as possible. Specific components may need to be serviced or even replaced such as torque converters or clutch packs or gear sets.

While manual transmissions are much less complicated than automatic transmissions, they can have complications of their own. For example, the cable or linkage should be adjusted to just the right setting to make sure the clutch can fully disengage from the flywheel.
