I rented from Squirrel Hill Flats for 4 years while I was a grad student at CMU, and I highly recommend it. The location is ideal, with easy access to campus, nearby parks, and great restaurants. The apartment was spacious, well-maintained, and had all the essential appliances. Parking was easy, and the neighborhood was peaceful, quiet, and felt very private. Aaron was an excellent landlord. Highly recommended! Location, landlord, and overall conditions have all exceeded my expectations in every way so far. Details below. Location: *Extremely* nice part of town. The 2421 Beechwood building neighbors the Frick Park trails, and is a half a mile walk from the shopping center of town. Stayed at the Forward Ave location. Apartments are clean, in good condition, and well maintained. Management is proactive, friendly, and extremely responsive. Good place to stay if you are a graduate student or young professional.
I rented from Aaron for 3 years in Squirrel Hill and generally had a great experience. He's a nice guy, always direct and honest and quick to respond. The apartment I rented is in an older building, so naturally there were some issues, but Aaron would always send out someone to fix things right away or would come deal with it himself. Really happy with the apartment---it was a great find in a fantastic location.
