This Midtown hot spot with an infamous history has developed a reputation for good steaks and a business crowd. Dry-aged beef is served in hearty portions, as well as extra-thick veal and lamb chops. Seafood selections include red snapper and striped bass. Large dining rooms with dark antique furniture and staid paintings create the atmosphere. Black-tied waiters and efficient service set the pace. There is also an amazing wine list, with huge selections and amazingly affordable prices.

surf and turf – Sirloin and lobster combination best in the city. Excellent priced wine list with good selection of Napa and Bordeaux.
expense acct. special – went with co. group for dinner. busy, noisy, popular steak house, not sure how they will do with smoking ban. but the lamb chops medium rare & 2 1/2 lb lobsters tenderly steamed were superb! other entree's just ok, some steaks came out overdone for colleagues. sides are large good for group. The SUM IT: great if you're on expense acct. but wouldn't come on my own wallet.
worst experience – We had reservations for 8:30 but were made to wait an hour and a half!! Asked the maitre 'd when we could be seated but everytime we asked, all he said was "wait a minute". The waiting game seemed to be geared soley towards making customers pay for expensive drinks. Regulars and those who were friends of the maitre 'd were obviously given preferential treatment. All in all, the Maitre 'd was really rude and snobbish toward the waiting customers. The food wasn't that great either...
BEST STEAK IN NYC!!!! – HANDS DOWN THE BEST STAEK IN NYC. SERVICE IS A+ WINE LIST LIKE PHONE BOOK...
NO NO NO – We got there 10 min. earlier than our reservation, ended up waiting 40min. Ordered ceasar's salad-the lettuce was stale. I got the sirloin-they know how to cook the steak to your liking, but the beef itself was not that greatly aged. It's good but I can find better for this price.
You can do better than Sparks! – I've had much better steaks for a lot less money! I like mine med-well. This one managed to be med-rare, but still charred and crispy on the outside.
NYC's finest seakhouse – My favorite "have a client to dinner" place in NYC. Old boy atmosohere, prompt service, great steaks and sides. Expect to find good wine, but no bargains. Highly recommended.
booo – Sparks didn't offer what I expected... if you like very simple meat and potatos, this is the place for you. The best steak I have ever had, anywhere was in Lancaster, PA at JMs Bistro.... Peter Luger an Dylan aren't even close.
A good experience! – Sparks is a good time with great food. The steaks are well flavored, and the wine is excellent. The menu is a little sparse, even for a steakhouse...no porterhouse, no prime rib, not even a ribeye. But the filet and sirloin were both superb. We were seated promptly and treated with nothing but respect. The waiter was not informed about the wine list, and offered no one who was, but we still got a great selection. Overall a very nice time.
